Advertising Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Inlight Publisher may accept advertising on its websites and in printed issues to support the cost of publishing. This policy sets out how we keep advertising separate from editorial content.
1. Editorial Independence
Advertising never influences editorial decisions. Editors and reviewers are not told which organisations advertise, and an advertiser's products, services or interests play no part in whether a manuscript is accepted, how it is reviewed or when it is published.
2. Clear Labelling
All advertisements are clearly identified as "Advertisement" or "Sponsored" and are visually distinct from articles and editorial content. Advertisements are not placed next to articles about the advertiser's own products, and are never placed inside the text of an article.
3. What We Accept
We accept advertising for products and services relevant to researchers, educators, students and professionals, such as:
- academic conferences, workshops and training courses
- books, scientific equipment, software and research services
- academic programmes and job vacancies at universities and research institutions
4. What We Do Not Accept
- advertisements for tobacco, alcohol, gambling, weapons or adult content
- advertisements that are false, misleading or make unproven health claims
- advertisements for prescription medicines aimed at the general public
- advertisements for paper mills, ghost-writing, "guaranteed publication" or citation-selling services
- advertisements for other publishers or journals that do not follow recognised publication ethics
- advertisements that are discriminatory, offensive or illegal in the country where they are shown
5. Medical and Health Advertising
Advertisements for medical products or health services must comply with applicable law and be supported by evidence. They will not appear alongside articles that discuss the same product.
6. Our Right to Refuse
Inlight Publisher may decline or withdraw any advertisement at its discretion, including one already published, without stating a reason.
7. Sponsored Content and Special Issues
Special issues or supplements that are funded by an external organisation are clearly marked with the sponsor's name. Sponsored content goes through the same peer review as all other content, and sponsors have no say in editorial decisions.
8. Online Advertising and Cookies
Any third-party advertising on our websites must respect our Privacy Policy. We do not allow advertisers to collect personal information from our users without consent.
